Parking Permits for In-home Childcare Workers

I am reaching out to the Federation of Civic Associations and other civic associations that fall partially or completely within a Residential Parking Permit District to inform you of an upcoming public hearing item that Traffic and Parking Board members will vote on at the October 23 Traffic and Parking Board meeting. Can the Federation of Civic Associations please share the following information with their individual members. Mayor Justin Wilson has proposed an amendment to the residential parking permit restrictions that would allow for the issuance of residential parking permits for in-home childcare workers, as is the current practice for in-home health care workers under provision (a) (1) (ii) of Section 5-8-77. The proposed code change would be expanded from in-home health care workers to also allow residents who employ an in-home childcare worker to apply for one residential parking permit per year for their in-home childcare worker.

Further details on this proposed code change will be available in the October Traffic and Parking board docket that will be posted online a week prior to the October 23rd meeting. The October 23 meeting of the Traffic and Parking Board will be held at 7:00pm in person in the City Council Chambers at 301 King Street, Alexandria. People can also participate in the meeting via Zoom. Any comments that the Federation of Civic Associations and other civic associations wish to get to the Traffic and Parking Board members can be sent to me via email.

Thank you, Sheila McGraw
